The old Cole Porter jazz standard, "Summertime...and the livin' is easy" was on my mind when I staged this scene. I've been enjoying our Independence Day holiday by the beach. Hopefully, these photos will pass a little of my mood on to you. Have a good one...
I'm a southern lady, probably born several decades too late, cultivating a lush life. I have an eye for Henri Matisse's cutouts, Romare Bearden's collages and Elizabeth Catlett's sculptures. My palate devours prosecco with oysters on the half-shell or pinot noir with dark chocolate. My nose relishes in the scent of magnolia trees, gardenias and the fresh ocean air. My hand lavishes among silks, cashmere and embossed leathers. And oh yeah, I've got an ear for Jimi's guitar licks, a heart for Billie's blues-filled lyrics, and a soul for the call and response of Miles and Coletrane...And I love recreating this beauty I see all around into funky, modern miniature scenes.
I have always been captivated by aesthetics. My constant attention to detail has led me to appreciate all that is pleasing to the senses. Pleasing to the hand, the nose, the (palette) palate, the ear, but especially pleasing to the eye. I'm a flea-market fan, shoe addict and gallery geek. I'm an admirer of style and an avid patron of the arts---always collecting, editing and remixing. Join me out and about in the city as I curate a gallery of all that inspires and in my studio as I craft, well perhaps---experiment. With this blog, I'll explore and catalog, if you will, (mini) many schools of beauty, art and taste into a virtual smashbook...a virtual studio...of Mini*Aesthetics.
